Wintersemester 2023
Betreuung:
Celine Condorelli, Philipp Schell
Last semester, as part of the seminar “history of display” led by Celine Condorelli and Philipp Schell we went for 5 days to London. The trip opened with an audio tour that the artist Janet Cardiff recorded in 1999: “Audio Walk: The Missing Voice”. Starting from the WhiteChapel library, we walk through the borough of Tower Hamlets. We had the exclusive opportunity to visit the National Gallery before the opening hours to the public; having the place all for ourselves, we could contemplate the magnificent beauty of its artwork in one tete-a-tete with art.
We are grateful to the tours and insights, that
Daniel Herrmann (the curator of the modern and contemporary project), Priyesh Mistry, (curator contemporary art), Patrick O’Sullivan (art handling team) and Patrick Shade (head of framing) gave us regarding the curations of the exhibition, the management of the gallery and art pieces, the stories behind the scenes and the importance of framing.
The trip concluded with visits to the Sir John Soane’s Museum and Tate Britain.
