BUSY SCULPTURES – Vortrag von YRD.Works

YRD.Works (David Bausch, Yacin Boudalfa and Ruben Fischer)YRD.Works - Yacin Boudalfa, Ruben Fischer and David Bausch create short-term meeting places and research the interface between space, sculpture and action.
Whether temporary pizza delivery service or walk-in installation in the White Cube, the Offenbach collective's expansive interventions are never detached from the viewer. Active interaction with the sculptures and installations by the public is a central aspect of YRD.Works' work. The performative actions and spatial installations are always developed on a site-specific basis and are usually limited in time. The artists' collective has been working in an interdisciplinary way since 2015 and has since acquired a wide variety of (craft) techniques on a project-by-project basis.
With their lecture Busy Sculptures, YRD.Works will provide insights into their artistic work and present selected projects from recent years to students at HfG Karlsruhe.

Short bio:

YRD.Works are David Bausch (born 1988), Yacin Boudalfa (born 1987) and Ruben Fischer (born 1987). The Offenbach-based collective has been developing independently initiated projects, collaborations and commissioned works for cultural institutions and festivals since 2015. The starting point for their large-scale spatial sculptures is often the question of what is missing in a place.
Together with Frankfurt's Künstlerhaus Mousonturm, for example, they developed four spatial sculptures as part of the Federal Cultural Foundation's Doppelpass fund (2016-2018), which explored different dispositives of performative architecture in public or semi-public spaces in a variety of ways. For the group exhibition Things I think I want (2017) at the Frankfurt Kunstverein, YRD.Works reproduced the white cube of the largest exhibition space by recreating its structure, but deforming the walls and placing them inside each other. In 2018, the three artists received the Art Prize of the City of Nordhorn. In their resulting first institutional solo exhibition, they continued their exploration of exhibition spaces with Doubles and duplicated the modular partition wall system of the Städtische Galerie Nordhorn one-to-one. In summer 2019, YRD.Works used Copy Service to create a one-to-one cast of the Baroque palace in its courtyard of honour for the Herrenhausen Art Festival in Hanover. In 2020, the three artists also realised an architectural intervention as part of the exhibition Edmonds Urzeitreich - Eine Dinograbung, which was created in cooperation with the Senckenberg Museum Frankfurt am Main and the Frankfurter Kunstverein.

Since 2016, Bausch, Boudalfa and Fischer have also been running the Kreismann-Halle in a former assembly hall in Offenbach harbour. The exhibition hall, which is unique in the Rhine-Main region, brings regional artists of a younger generation into contact with the national art scene.
