Sommer semester 2022-2023
Supervision: Celine Coldorelli, Philipp Schell
We've got an exciting story to share from our recent field trip, the ADSZ Sommersemester 2023 Exkursionsbericht! Buckle up as we take you on a journey through art, architecture, and thought-provoking exhibitions.
First stop: Cologne! We kicked off our adventure at the awe-inspiring Kolumba Museum, a masterpiece designed by the talented architect Peter Zumthor. This unique building stands atop an ancient church ruin, blending history and modernity. Prof. Céline Condorelli set the stage for our exploration, challenging us to experience the exhibition space beyond individual artworks. We wandered through rooms bathed in a mix of natural and artificial light, creating an atmosphere that felt straight out of a movie. The museum's design, with its subtle gaps and echoes, made us feel like we were floating in a captivating dreamscape.
Second up: Mönchengladbach! We hopped on a train and arrived at the extraordinary Museum Abteiberg, a creation by architect Hans Hollein. We immersed ourselves in his vision as we dove into his text "Alles ist Architektur." Hollein's museum, like a small city, was born from the idea of communication and exchange. It challenged traditional exhibition norms, embracing radical forms of display that questioned the status quo. We had the privilege of meeting the museum's director, Susanne Titz, who shared fascinating insights into the museum's history and philosophy.
As the sun began to set, we wrapped up our trip, sharing our observations and insights. With our minds buzzing, we bid farewell to Mönchengladbach and embarked on our journey back, grateful for the experiences and memories we created.
So, see you soon on our next trip, get ready to explore new horizons, challenge norms, and let your imagination soar! Stay tuned for more adventures and remember to keep those creative juices flowing. Until our next journey!
